I've come to learn that Substack will lie to you sometimes (I think particularly when there are photos involved) and tell you a post is too long for email, and then you make all the apologies for length, only for the whole post to show up in the email anyway.
I skirt the email length limit with almost every post I make, so I run into this issue a lot.
